D.I.Y Dip-Dye Tropical Denim Shorts

I know the quality of this picture is terrible but forgive me, I made it in about a minute.
It's the plan of some denim shorts I'm going to make, I'm planning on dip dyeing, bleaching and studding a lot of pairs. I went scouring the charity shops yesterday for vintage high waisted jeans to make into interesting shorts. I find old jeans sit at a much better place on your waist and the denim feels nice and sturdy.

I'm going to buy pink and orange fabric dye and dip-dye the shorts, and then print tropical pictures onto iron-on transfer paper and iron it onto the back pockets.
What do you think, do you reckon it will work? When I get it done I'll post pictures..if it's successful!

Today I Wore..Palm Trees and Brights

It's finally time I started doing outfit posts! I've been avoiding it so far because I didn't want to use mirror pictures as they look a little bit unprofessional, but I don't always have time to faff around with self timer or get someone to take it for me so I've just accepted that some (or most) will be mirror pictures.
However this one is NOT, as it's for the ZARA People competition, I did all the required faffing.

I'm wearing: Blazer - New Look. T-shirt - Zara. Skirt - Zara. Heels - Topshop. Bag - H&M. Sunglasses- Primark.

Hype it on lookbook to help me out! You can find me here LOOKBOOK.nu
I'll also be posting it on What I Wore Today (I use this a lot as mirror pictures are much more common) and you can follow me here WIWT.

Have a nice sunshiney day!

new bag

I just bought the prettiest little clutch bag there ever was.
It's from New Look, but I think it looks a lot more expensive than that. I love the combination of grey and yellow, and I wish I had the sort of life where I could use clutch bags during the day, rather than lumbering about with a huge bag. Sadly it will have to wait until a night out for it's first venture into society.

This is my first day off since the weather started being lovely and I can't wait to spend the whole day in the sun!

new blog name (yet again)..

I am terrible at making decisions, and I think that is reflected in how often I have changed my mind about my blog design and layout, and I've only had it for about a week!
I really struggled to decide on a name for it, everything felt a little bit try hard, but I've changed it to "No Day But Today".
I don't know why I didn't think of it before, as it is a phrase I love so much that I have it tattooed on my wrist..seems an obvious choice really.
Hopefully this is final and I won't change my mind again!

fairy gardens

Following my new love of Pinterest (which I became addicted to during my time off) I have found a trend/ hobby that I think is lovely..making fairy gardens!
People use plant pots and things like that, combined with tiny plants and dolls house furniture to make little gardens for fairies, and I think it is absolutely adorable! (All pictures taken from Pinterest).

(This last one is my favourite..I think it's because I have always wanted a pond and never had one..sob)

It impresses me so much, the dedication and imagination, and attention to detail is outstanding.
I also think it would be a lovely thing to do to keep a little girl entertained.
I'm definately going to find an opportuity to make one myself at some point, I think it could actually be a nice centre piece at a table instead of ordinary flowers.

summer aztec nails

I just did some fancy artwork on my nails in time for the weekend!
It was pretty fiddly (especially doing my right hand, left handed) but think it's turned out ok! No one beleives me that I did it myself or that it isn't a sticker so I'll take that as a good sign.
I love the WAH nails pen (which is what I used to do this), I've only got the black so far but I want to get more of the colours now.
It's easier doing it on fake nails but I didn't have the time or the money to buy any!

spring fashion

I'm not going to lie, the appearance of a vaguely warmer week has got me entirely over excited about the prospect of summer, and with that in mind I've got carried away and planned my spring wardrobe!

Rather than just going shopping and trying not to go mad and buy everything I like, this season I'm going to aim to stick to the two main trends that appeal to me.

These are..

SUGAR RUSH (Seen everywhere, full of girly touches, collars and ice cream colours)
I absolutely love this, I think it is so pretty and can look so elegant, as long as you don't go too over the top and cutesy. Louis Vuitton obviously led the pack with this one, but I think the colour combination at 3.1 Phillip Lim of white, lilac and orange was absolutely perfect, and I am definately going to try and find these colours.

So far I've bought:
(Maxi waistcoat - Never Fully Dressed at LFWeekend, Pink coat - Charity shop, Cream dress - Primark, Pink Blazer - Never Fully Dressed at LFWeekend, Yellow blouse - Primark, Turquoise t-shirt - Zara, Mint blouse - Primark, Blue floral shirt - Charity shop, Turquoise checked shirt - Charity shop, and Yellow Satchel - H&M)

I love this satchel, I think yellow is going to be my favourite colour this season! I also can't wait to wear the maxi waistcoat, it was so unusual I couldn't resist it. I'm thinking of pairing it with pale ripped jeans and a white vest.

I'm looking out for more pastel colours so I can start to mix and match!

The other trend I like is inspired by all of the beautiful prints that appeared on the SS12 catwalk show, I like the idea of mashing a lot of really unusual prints together and looking slightly like a...

CRAZY ART TEACHER:

This is a bit of an odd name for a trend I admit but that's what it reminds me of, and I am always drawn towards paint prints that look like they have been splatted on. I am searching desperately for a blouse like this that I saw in LOOK magazine from H&M recently; their customer service deparment was really helpful, but sadly as a trend item it won't be in any of the stores near me, WAA. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled.

So far I have bought:

(Blouse - Mary Katrantzou for Topshop, Maxi skirt - River Island, Jacket - Twenty8Twelve at LFWeekend, Skirt - Zara)

I still cannot get over my happiness that I got my hands on some Mary Katrantzou for Topshop, she has been my favourite designer from the minute I saw her work and it is without a doubt the most beautiful thing I own. I don't know whether I want to never wear it and just hang it up and stare at it, or wear it every single day of my life.

I can't beleive my first real post was so long! But that's all for now, I'm back to work tomorrow so need to prepare myself for real life!
